My
passion for dance came in my late teen years when the movie Center
Stage was released in theaters. Prior to that I did your
typical "club" dancing and cheerleading routines. The
movie made me reflect on the art-form of dance and the joy it brought to
others, not only in actually dancing but also in simply watching it.
After
searching for local dance classes I met a fabulous instructor who
introduced me to the world of ballroom, Latin and swing dancing. I
also picked up line dancing, where I met my best friend, whom I refer to
as my dancing soul mate. She and I also spent a few years learning
and performing tap, jazz, and Irish step dancing.
My
ultimate dance passion, though, is bellydance, which I gravitated to on
a whim for something fun to do. I started dancing with a local
YMCA and was soon hooked. The dance quickly became more than a
hobby for me...it became my passion.
I
have been studying bellydance since 2001 and teaching since 2006.
I have been blessed by attending workshops with such greats as Onca,
Sharon Kihara, and Kami Liddle.

"Bellydance,
the very core of my being,
is my soul."
Bellydance
allows me to appreciate
my body and my womanhood.
I enjoy the strength it gives to women
by dancing in a group -
sharing in each others joys, sorrows, accomplishments, and let downs.
The dance offers inspiration, hope, joy,
and an outlet for my and others' emotions."

I
am now fortunate enough to share my love of dance through teaching and
performing in central Wisconsin. In May 2007 I completed white
belt Nia certification to bring me closer to my ultimate goal of being
a dance and movement therapist.
I
appreciate your stopping by to learn more about me and hope to share my
love of dance with you in future performances, classes, or other
interactions.
Wiggles
and giggles,
Nayana
