8 on the Floor

   AKA:  NA

    

Visualize: imagine drawing the number eight (or the infinity symbol) on the floor with your foot

     

Tip: while learning, execute move with foot maintaining contact with the floor at all times - once mastered, experiment with lifting foot at various points or even for the entire move  

     

Tip: allow knee and hip to loosely follow the flow of your foot while maintaining a still upper body 

     

Right Foot

Think: for this description imagine your foot is going to trace the infinity symbol without (leaving the floor) starting at the cross of the center, down to the L, out, up to the front L, down to the R, out, up to the front R

      

    Start with knees slightly bent.  Weight on L.  R foot in point in front with only big toe touching the floor.

    Pull R foot back and to the L side as though attempting to reach L pinkie (smallest) toe.

    Circle R foot out to the L and then forward toward the audience.

    Pull R foot down and to the R side.  

    Circle R foot out to the R and then forward toward the audience.

    Slightly pull R boot back and to the L to return to starting position.

    

Left Foot

Think: for this description imagine your foot is going to trace the infinity symbol without (leaving the floor) starting at the cross of the center, down to the R, out, up to the front R, down to the L, out, up to the front L

      

    Start with knees slightly bent.  Weight on R.  L foot in point in front with only big toe touching the floor.

    Pull L foot back and to the R side as though attempting to reach R pinkie (smallest) toe.

    Circle L foot out to the R and then forward toward the audience.

    Pull L foot down and to the L side.  

    Circle L foot out to the L and then forward toward the audience.

    Slightly pull L boot back and to the R to return to starting position.
